Long-Term Projects.
The Jordanian Australian Community in Victoria is committed to building sustainable initiatives that can serve our community for generations. Our long-term vision currently focuses on two major projects that will be explored and developed progressively according to community needs, feasibility, available resources, funding opportunities, and the appropriate approvals.
Establishing a Permanent Home for Our Community
Our long-term vision is to establish a permanent home for the Jordanian Australian Community in Victoria — a welcoming place where members of our community can meet, connect, learn, share experiences, support one another, and develop new initiatives.
Stage 1 — Renting a Community House
The first stage is to explore the feasibility of renting a suitable house or community property that can serve as the Association's initial home and provide a regular meeting place for our community.
Subject to suitability, approvals and applicable requirements, the space could support activities such as:
- Youth and social gatherings
- Community evenings and informal social programs
- Committee and working-group meetings
- Educational and cultural activities
- Community discussions and exchange of experiences
- Workshops and planning sessions
- Meetings with professionals, educators and community leaders
- Development of new ideas and projects for the Association
- Suitable family and community activities
- A regular point of connection for members of our community
Future Stages
The experience gained from the first stage would help
the Association understand community demand, operating
costs, suitable programs, funding requirements and the
type of facility needed in the future.
As the Association grows, future stages could include
securing a larger and more suitable facility and,
ultimately, exploring the possibility of acquiring a
permanent community centre owned by the Association.
Jordanian Islamic School Initiative
The Jordanian Islamic School Initiative is a long-term vision to explore the establishment of an educational institution in Victoria that combines academic excellence, Islamic values, Arabic language and cultural identity, while preparing students to participate confidently and positively in Australian society.
This is a significant long-term initiative and would require careful feasibility assessment, community consultation, professional planning, sustainable funding, and all necessary educational, regulatory and other approvals before implementation.
Stage 1 — Community Needs & Feasibility Study
The first stage would investigate the feasibility of the project, including:
- Community interest and demand
- Expected student numbers
- Appropriate year levels
- Potential locations
- Establishment and operating costs
- Funding requirements and financial sustainability
- Educational and regulatory requirements
- Governance and management models
- Staffing requirements
- Suitable facilities and infrastructure
Stage 2 — Educational Model
Subject to the outcome of the feasibility study, the Association could develop a proposed educational model incorporating:
- High-quality academic education
- Arabic language education
- Islamic studies and values
- Jordanian, Arab and cultural heritage
- Mathematics, science and technology
- Personal development and leadership
- Community engagement
- Preparation for further education and future careers
The aim would be to develop students who are academically capable, confident in their identity and values, and equipped to contribute positively to the wider Australian community.
Stage 3 — Partnerships & Funding
This stage would explore potential partnerships and support from relevant educational institutions, community organisations, universities, government bodies, philanthropic organisations, businesses and community supporters.
A sustainable financial and operational model would also need to be developed before proceeding.
Stage 4 — Establishment & Implementation
If the feasibility study demonstrates that the project is viable, community support is established, sustainable resources are available, and all required approvals and requirements can be satisfied, the initiative could progress toward formal establishment and implementation.
An education built around excellence, identity and community.
A Journey We Build Together
These projects represent long-term aspirations for our community. Their development will depend on careful planning, community participation, professional expertise, financial sustainability and the appropriate approvals.
We welcome community members, professionals, educators, businesses and supporters who would like to contribute their experience, ideas or expertise to help explore and develop these initiatives for future generations.
